In 2022, United by schools took part in the first session of the International Independent Expert Mechanism to Advance Racial Justice and Equality in Law Enforcement, established in the wake of George Floyd’s murder and the global protests for racial equality.
Created by the United Nations Human Rights Council under resolutions 47/21 and 56/13, this mechanism aims to promote systemic change in the way States enforce the law, particularly in addressing the legacies of colonialism and the transatlantic slave trade.
Its mandate includes monitoring government responses to peaceful movements against racism, assessing human rights violations linked to law enforcement, and promoting accountability and reparations for victims.
During this inaugural session, Lenny Pamart pronounce a speech.
In his address, he emphasized the fundamental role of education in shaping informed citizens capable of rejecting discrimination and preventing violence rooted in prejudice. He reaffirmed that human rights education from an early age is essential to building just and inclusive societies, where human dignity lies at the heart of public action.
This participation marked a thematic expansion of United by schools’ mission — evolving from the fight against bullying and school violence to the promotion of a global culture of equality and respect across all social institutions.
