Under the direction of Professor Jean-Pierre Pourtois (University of Mons) and Lenny Pamart, founder of United by schools, the book Diplomacy and Children’s Rights traces the evolution of international child law, from the Declarations of 1914, 1959, and 1989 to the contemporary challenges of the 21st century.
The work explores the draft Optional Protocol proposed by United by schools to the United Nations, intended to supplement the Convention on the Rights of the Child with specific provisions on school climates, the outcome of a global reflection led by students on educational dignity and well-being at school.
Inspired by the philosophy of Janusz Korczak, the book connects diplomacy with pedagogical ethics and includes practical implementation sheets for teachers, offering concrete ways to translate the values of children’s rights into tools for peace education.
