The year 2017 marked a historic milestone for United by schools.
After several years of on-the-ground engagement and collaboration with French educational authorities, the association achieved official recognition from the United Nations through the granting of Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC.
This recognition placed United by schools among the non-governmental organizations able to contribute directly to the work of the United Nations in the fields of education, children’s rights, and violence prevention.
It enabled the organization to present its proposals to a global audience, influence international discussions, and expand its mission into intergovernmental cooperation.
By joining the UN system, United by schools reached a symbolic threshold: its fight for peaceful and positive school climates became a global cause.
2017 will thus be remembered as the year the association made its voice heard at the highest international level.
